Mila is a Bulgarian-born artist, currently residing in Bern, Switzerland. Since 2014 she has worked professionally as a performer, actor for stage and film, director and singer. 

She studied Cultural Studies in Sofia University and later graduated in Acting for Theater in the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. Currently she is graduating in the Expanded Theater MA program of the University of the Arts in Bern.

She has an Ikar Award for Debut (2017) from the Bulgarian Union of Actors and an Ikar Award (2019) for Outstanding Performance for a Team as part of the Bulgarian production of the Avenue Q Musical. 

Mila is a freelancer and has been a part of independent productions of performances and devised pieces as an actress, collaborator and director. In 2021, collaborating with choreographer Yanitsa Atanassova, she created the concept for her solo physical performance THIS ROOM IS UNREAL, set on a rope structure above the ground. In 2022 Mila's directorial debut THREE was selected to participate in the ACT Festival for Independent Theater. In 2024 she participated in ACT Performance Festival Bern with her installation/ performance YOU AND ME AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

She has explored different genres and has performed in theaters around Bulgaria - Theater 199, National Theater "Ivan Vazov", Youth Theater, Theater Laboratory Sfumato, Sofia Puppet Theater, the Drama Theaters of Plovdiv and Haskovo. She was an associate director alongside director West Hyler in the Bulgarian production of SpongeBob: The Musical in the State Puppet Theater in Sofia.

In 2024 she published her poetry book “The End of Words” which won the supporting award in the National Competition for Debut Literature.

​​Mila is the co-creator and artistic director of the "Danail Chirpansky" International Student Theater Festival in Bulgaria - the first and currently only international festival in the country focused entirely on graduating productions of performing arts students. The very first edition of the festival was co-funded by UNESCO's International Culture Fund. The project was one of 8 to receive funding, competing with more than 800 projects from around the globe.

Currently, she is working on projects in Bern, Vienna and Sofia, due in May, September and December of 2025.

Most importantly, she loves the mountain and would kill for a hike and a climb, summer or winter. Also, rock n roll.
